Shoal Creek Park Foundation Purpose

Established in 2015, the Shoal Creek Park Foundation (SCPF) is a nonprofit organization founded to support Shoal Creek Park, a City of Montevallo nature park. SCPF advises the Montevallo City Council, raises funds to benefit the park and its visitors, and contributes to its maintenance and operation.

Mission

The mission of SCPF is to support Shoal Creek Park as a nature park.

Park Opening

Shoal Creek Park informally opened in 2015 with the creation of an entrance and parking lot. It was formally opened in March 2019 at Love Montevallo Day where Montevallo celebrated the new pavilion, which includes two restrooms and covered picnic seating, and the SCP bridge. The SCP bridge links the park core (the Perry/Mahler homestead area) to the over 125-acre western area. A few months after the grand opening, the Frank Arnold bridge was also opened. This bridge links the park core to the western side and allows a beautiful loop trail, called the Betty Loop (after Elizabeth Mahler) trail. This approximately one-mile loop trail follows Shoal Creek and crosses the two bridges.
